True North

True North is a kinetic work centered on direction, discovery, and suspended light. Built from solid brass rod, stamped and antique brass charms, gold-plated fittings, and an antique brass compass, the piece carries a strong symbolic quality — part navigational object, part modern relic.

A kite-shaped double-point crystal prism and Aurora Borealis prisms create a luminous counterpoint to the aged brass details. As the sculpture moves, it reflects the spirit of exploration that runs throughout Laytonardo’s work.
